Karina completed her Bachelor of Music at the Elder Conservatorium of Music under Peter Whish-Wilson and continued her musical studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, graduating in 2013 with a Masters in Music Performance under Steve Rosse. She furthered her studies internationally at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) in Zürich, Switzerland, gaining a Master of Arts in Music Performance and a Masters in Music Pedagogy under Professor Anne Jelle Visser.


Internationally, Karina has held an internship with the Biel Solothurn Orchester (CH) throughout 2014 and performed regularly with the Philharmonia Zürich, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich, the Sinfonieorchester St. Gallen (CH) and the Südwestdeutsch Philharmonie Konstanz (DE). She has been a featured soloist with the Adelaide Youth Orchestra in 2006, with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra in 2012 and with the Sinfonieorchester Nota Bene (CH) in 2015, playing the Ralph Vaughan Williams Concerto for Bass Tuba on all occasions.


Karina returned to Australia in 2018 to take up the position of Acting Principal Tuba with Orchestra Victoria. Alongside playing with Orchestra Victoria, Karina freelances regularly with the Adelaide, Queensland, Sydney, Tasmania and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras.


Aside from performing, Karina is passionate about music education and working with the next generations of upcoming musicians. This passion has led her to be the Tuba Faculty at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and part of the brass faculty at Monash University, as well as being involved frequently as part of the Australian Youth Orchestra’s (AYO) programs.
