MusiciansSola Hughes

Sola is a recent graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University where she studied with Michele Walsh and Natsuko Yoshimoto.

Her love of chamber music has led her to take part in chamber music festivals including the Stradbroke Chamber Music Festival, the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and Musical Chairs in Montreal. She has recorded with 4MBS, with a string quartet for the Beethoven Marathon and with a string trio as a winner of the Ross Peters Chamber Music Prize. Sola has also performed with Ensemble Q as a mentee.

She began her orchestral journey with Queensland Youth Symphony in 2015 and since then joined Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), leading the AYO young symphonists in 2018 and playing in the international tour orchestra in 2019.

As a soloist, Sola has performed the Stravinsky Violin Concerto with the Conservatorium Orchestra, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Redlands Sinfonia and with Orchestra Concertino.

As a musician, Sola hopes to be honest and have fun. Outside of music, she enjoys thrifting, eating and being in nature.

Sola commences her second year at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in 2024 where she will be learning from Zoë Black and Adam Chalabi.
