Sarah Blackman joined the Australian National Academy of Music in 2008. In 2007 she completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide where she has studied with Terence Tam, the Concertmaster of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and Keith Crellin. Sarah has appeared as concertmaster of the Elder Chamber and Symphony Orchestras on numerous occasions and as soloist she has performed with the Elder Chamber Orchestra and regularly for Recitals Australia for whom she was a 2007 award winner. Sarah has been the recipient of the Christ Church and Eugene Alderman Violin Scholarships as well as the Suzanne and Arved Kurtz and the 2004 Australian Strings Association Awards.
As a keen orchestral musician, Sarah Blackman has performed with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and the Adelaide Art Orchestra, as well as the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in their 2007 TSO/AYO collaboration. Since 2006 she has toured nationally with the Australian Youth Orchestra and has been a principal player in various programs. In July/August of 2007, Sarah performed with the Australian Youth Orchestra on their 50th anniversary international tour to Europe, performing at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and throughout France and Germany.
Sarah Blackman is a recipient of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Fellowship for 2008, has been broadcast on ABC classic FM and was concertmaster of the Bishop Orchestra at the Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp in January, 2008.
