Katie ZAGORSKI, FLUTE

Katie Zagorski has been an Academy Musician since 2006, studying with Margaret Crawford.  She graduated from the Australian National University School of Music with First Class Honours in 2006, studying with Vernon Hill and Virginia Taylor. During her studies, she was the recipient of the Flowers Honours Scholarship and won the opportunity to play the Ibert Flute Concerto with the University Orchestra. Katie Zagorski has been a finalist in the New Zealand National Flute Competition, a winner of the Victorian Flute Guild Competition and a winner of the prestigious International Flute Competition of Australia.

Katie is currently Principal Flautist of the Australian Youth Orchestra and enjoyed their European Tour last year. Katie participates in a range of chamber, solo and orchestral performances and is a casual musician with many of the Symphony Australia Orchestras. Most recently she was on contract as Associate Principal Flute for The Queensland Orchestra and was shortlisted for both the Associate Principal Flute and Piccolo positions for the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Aside from her musical passion, Katie is an avid and talented poker player.
