Holly PICCOLI, VIOLIN

Holly Piccoli has been an ANAM Academy Musician since 2005, studying with ANAM principal teacher Mark Mogilevski.

Holly has recently returned from Washington, DC having been invited to perform the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Virginia Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Luis Haza. For the ANZAC Day Ceremony in Washington National Cathedral, Holly was invited to perform the violin solo of the Albinoni Adagio, and for the ‘War Brides Gathering’ at the Australian Embassy, Holly performed her own violin solo arrangement of Waltzing Matilda.

Holly Piccoli began violin studies in 1994, gaining a scholarship in 1999 to the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. She graduated in 2004 as Dux of the School, having been awarded the Lenton Parr Academic Award, three Premier’s Awards and the 2004 Melbourne Symphony Orchestra String Award, receiving a Richard Panting violin. 

In July 2006, Holly received the Australian fellowship to the National Symphony Summer Music Institute (‘SMI’). She successfully auditioned for the role of Concertmaster of the National Symphony SMI Orchestra and performed the violin solo in Stravinsky’s La Pulcinella Suite in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Holly also performed Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Quintet on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and at the Australian Embassy.

Holly Piccoli has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships, including the 1998 Melbourne Youth Music Award, the VCASS Junior Music Scholarship 2000 and 2001, the Senior Academic Award 2002, Thomas Foundation Scholarships, and was a prize winner in the Paul McDermott Award and the Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial Award.

As Concertmaster and soloist with the Chamber Strings of Melbourne, Holly toured Poland, Greece, France and Italy in January 2007, performing the Haydn Violin Concerto in C major.
