Aura GO, PIANO
Aura Go has performed widely as a soloist and chamber musician. Her interest in and commitment to new music has seen her give the Australian Premiere performances of the Piano Concerti Nos. 1 and 2 of Einojuhani Rautavaara with the Melbourne and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras in 2002 and 2003. In 2006, she performed the Schnittke Concerto for Piano and Strings with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed the solo piano music of Rautavaara, including the Australian Premiere of his second Piano Sonata “Fire Sermon” in 2002 for ABC Classic FM. In 2005 and 2006 Aura presented solo and chamber works for the Melbourne International Arts Festival, including Sofia Gubaidulina’s Concerto for Piano and Chamber Orchestra ‘Introitus’.
Aura has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships. In 2002, 2003 and 2006 she was a National Keyboard Finalist in Symphony Australia’s Young Performers Awards. She was the winner of the 5th Yamaha Australian Youth Piano Competition and the Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial Award. In 2001 she recorded Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as part of the MSO Young Artists Program, and in 2002 recorded a solo recital for the ABC. In 2004, she was the winner of the Marion Isobel Thomas Concerto Award and performed the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 with the VCA Symphony Orchestra.
As a conductor, Aura has worked with the Melbourne, Adelaide and Queensland Orchestras as part of the Symphony Australia Conductor Development Program. In 2008 she will again work with the Melbourne and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Tasmanian Symphony. Aura was awarded the Dowd Foundation Scholarship and the Keith and Elisabeth Murdoch Travelling Fellowship to undertake further studies in orchestral conducting overseas.
Aura attained her Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2006, where she studied piano under Max Cooke. She is currently studying at ANAM with Ian Munro.
