Originally from Adelaide, Georgia Ioakimidis-MacDougall is a Melbourne based horn player in her third year of study at ANAM. Georgia completed her Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the University of Melbourne in 2009. As part of her degree she spent six months studying at the Kunst-Uni in Graz, Austria with Hector McDonald. She currently learns from Ben Jacks, Andrew Bain, Rachel Silver and Peter Luff.
The highlight from Georgia’s time at ANAM is the final of the 2010 Chamber Music Competition with the Penderecki Allstars. She recently won a scholarship which enabled her to study in Berlin and Norway in February 2012 with some of her horn idols and hopes to maintain her reputation of collecting little-known, fiendishly difficult chamber works to bring back to ANAM in 2012.
Georgia loves to play both contemporary music and works from our traditional classical canon. She is interested in the context of music in contemporary Australian society and the importance of music pedagogy.
